Well hello there; welcome to my little space on the web!
I’m Tamlyn, a born and bred Joburg girl with a passion for travel. I’ve recently decided to take life by the horns and start studying (AGAIN) while I work as a freelancer, and decided to devote some time to my very own digital travel diary. When I’m not at my computer typing away, you’ll find me shopping, exploring my beautiful, vibrant and eclectic hometown, Johannesburg, South Africa, spending time with my family and friends or organising something… probably my next trip, since I’ve got a massive case of the travel bug.
I have been incredibly blessed over the past number of years to have had the chance to travel to a number of fabulous places; sometimes due to clever planning and stringent saving, sometimes by being the lucky wife of a man who travels quite a bit for work, and sometimes because said husband and I both have a ‘Yes!’ attitude (enhanced by a couple of friends with the same attitude!).
With each trip, I learn so very much… About other cultures, about how other people live, about what you should and shouldn’t do when travelling, and about myself. I decided to start sharing some of my stories, because one day I’d love to be able to look back on all the incredible adventures I’ve had, and if someone else can enjoy reading about them, then that’s just a bonus.
The internet is full of super cheesy quotes about travel; “Of all the books in the world, the best stories are found between the pages of a passport”, “Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer”, “Not all who wander are lost”, “Travel leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller” … Yep, like I said, cheesy – but somehow, the cheesiness is overshadowed by the truth in them.
I’m not going to pretend that I’m any kind of expert or travel guru, but I am an expert in what I do and don’t like, and since I’ve been privileged enough to go on some amazing adventures around the world, I thought making my very own ‘diary’ would be a way for me to keep the memories of this trips fresh, and I hope you manage to find some delight and inspiration from my adventures, too!
Enjoy life… with a side of pink!
(Oh, I think I’m also supposed to mention something about the fact that the views in this blog are my own, and have no reflection on wherever I work and whoever I work with/for, so here that is…)
